Google has announced it is going to change the way it presents search engine results on mobile phones. And that change kicks in on April 21, 2015. It’s going to be a huge shake up.

Here is a quote from Google’s blog:

Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”

So what does this mean for your website – and your business?

In short, it means if your website is not optimised to display well on a phone, you will rank significantly lower in Google’s search results than sites that are mobile friendly.

So let’s not beat around the bush. You can find out right now whether Google thinks your site is mobile friendly.

How did your site do?

If your site is mobile friendly, congratulations. If not, and you are serious about marketing your business online after April 21, you really need to do something about it.

In light of this, Chris Mole Media is making a special offer for all readers of this newsletter. We can build you a mobile site that takes the content from your existing site (and updates it when you update your original site). The new site is fully mobile-compatible, and will be presented to mobile users. Non-mobile users get your original site.

Furthermore, we are doing this special offer for just $200 +GST between now and April 21, 2105.

It is reckoned at least 50% of all Google searches are now performed on mobile devices, so it makes sense that Google wants to capitalise on this traffic and ensure the best possible experience for its users.

One thing is clear. Websites that cater to mobile users best will earn the most visibility from Google. So don’t get left behind!
